The funds will be allocated under the regional investment programme in the form of subsidies. Currently, 34% of the construction work has been completed at the site.
The construction of a new dormitory building with 166 beds is underway on the shore of Lake Shchibot. The investment volume for 2018 under the project amounted to approximately Br825 thousand, also allocated under the investment programme of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee in the form of subsidies from the national budget to finance expenses related to overcoming the consequences of the Chernobyl NPP disaster. The implementation of the project will allow the health resort to increase the utilisation rate of the existing capacities of the medical building, cultural and leisure facilities, and the school by up to 25%. The economic stability of the enterprise will improve, and the indicator of production efficiency will increase to 15%. In addition, about 50 jobs will be created in rural areas, and the quality of the provided health resort services will improve.
In total, more than Br1 million of the rehabilitation centre's own investments have been directed towards the development of "Zhemchuzhina" this year. Funds were invested in the modernisation of existing dormitory buildings and the medical building, the dining hall was completely reconstructed, artificial turf was laid on the football field, and other facilities were improved.
"Zhemchuzhina" Lepel Centre is a permanent executor of the Union State program for the organization of treatment and health improvement of children from the most affected areas of Belarus and Russia by the consequences of the Chernobyl NPP disaster. It is also part of the system of specialized children's rehabilitation and health improvement centers created by the state under the subprogram "Children of Chernobyl" of the presidential program "Children of Belarus", which have all the conditions for comprehensive rehabilitation of children from the affected regions. The experience gained by the health resort staff over 14 years, as well as the existing medical facilities, allow for comprehensive rehabilitation of children and adolescents according to individual programs. These programs involve the use of all available types of procedures, taking into account their combination and the health characteristics of the young patient, as well as identified future health risks for the child. This approach, supported by a solid material and technical base, allows for the selection of a personalized scheme for each child, either with a preventive focus or for the treatment of a specific pathology.
