Approximately 1 billion rubles will be invested in the renovation of the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Hospital, as reported to journalists by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin, during his visit to the healthcare institution.

According to him, the renovation will encompass existing facilities and involve the construction of new ones. Specifically, this refers to the surgical building, where construction work commenced a month ago. It will be an eight-story building with an admission department. The building will house a diagnostic unit for patients and 19 operating rooms. These rooms will enable doctors to perform high-tech surgeries across various specialities, including neurosurgery, traumatology, cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, and endovascular surgery. The facility will be connected to the main building via a second-floor walkway, as stated by Alexander Subbotin:

- We are the last of the regions to begin work on the renovation of the regional hospital. However, we will strive to create one of the best medical centres in the country, equipped with the most modern technologies and equipment, and staffed by highly qualified specialists. We have all the necessary resources for this. This is because it will not only be a hospital but also a research centre and departments of the medical university. Ideally, we want to unite all the key components under the umbrella of the hospital – specialist training, a research centre, a treatment base, and the implementation of innovations. Most importantly, we aim to create comfortable conditions for every person who comes here to work or receive treatment.

Construction will gain momentum in the near future. The facility is planned to be erected by the end of next year, with full operation expected by the spring of 2025. The total investment volume for the entire renovation project of the hospital will be approximately 1 billion rubles.

The implementation of the project will provide a significant impetus for the development of the healthcare sector in the region and will also attract new specialists, as assured by the Chief Physician of the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Hospital, Evgeny Matusevich:

- With the opening of the new building, new jobs will be created. For example, we will need 20 resuscitators alone, not to mention other specialists – doctors and mid-level medical personnel. Staff training has already begun.
