On July 31, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. Approximately 1,000 officials in the Vitebsk region have been penalised in the first half of the year for labour protection law violations, as reported to BELTA by Sergey Anufriev, First Deputy Head of the Vitebsk Regional Department of the State Labour Inspectorate of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection. For labour protection law violations in January-June, 477 officials in the Vitebsk region were subjected to disciplinary action based on the results of state inspector checks, and 506 officials and 84 employers were subjected to administrative penalties in the form of fines. The total number of fines issued during this period was 590, which is 30% more compared to the same period in 2011. For 29 established cases of non-compliance with directives issued in January-June 2012, in accordance with the requirements of Article 23.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus, state labour inspectors drew up administrative offence reports and submitted them to the courts. In addition, for 23 reports, courts have already issued decisions in the form of administrative penalties such as warnings and fines, noted Sergey Anufriev. Overall, based on the results of checks over the six months of the current year, state labour inspectors identified and indicated in inspection reports 9.6 thousand violations at the audited economic entities (6.5 thousand violations in the same period of 2011). The requirements (directives) mandated the rectification of 8.4 thousand labour and labour protection law violations, which is 47.5% more than the previous year's level. "The difference between the number of identified violations and violations mandated for rectification, as indicated in the requirements (directives), was 12.5%. These violations were rectified by employers during the inspection, prior to the issuance of the directive," clarified Sergey Anufriev, emphasizing that this work organisation allows the inspector to confirm the rectification of identified violations while still on the premises, and also encourages the employer's diligence in creating safe working conditions at the enterprise.
