The current year is юбилейный for Polotsk. One of the oldest cities of the Eastern Slavs celebrates its 1150th anniversary since its first mention in the chronicle. However, Polotsk is proud not only of its great past - it confidently looks to the future. As one of the major industrial centers of the Vitebsk region, the city rightly bears the title of being business-friendly, and international contacts are actively developing here. And at the same time, Polotsk remains one of the most attractive tourist sites in the country. Local authorities have developed a new concept for the development of the urban territory and plan to create a cultural and historical center and tourist infrastructure around the Spaso-Evfrosinievsky Monastery and the St. Sophia Cathedral.
