25 April, Minsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. An online conference on "Polotsk - 1150 years" will be held today on the website of the Belarusian Telegraph Agency from 11:00 to 12:00. This year is an anniversary year for Polotsk. One of the oldest cities of the Eastern Slavs celebrates its 1150th anniversary since its first mention in the chronicles. However, Polotsk is proud not only of its great past: it looks confidently into the future. As one of the major industrial centres of the Vitebsk region, the city rightfully bears the title of being favourable for business, and actively develops international contacts here. And at the same time, Polotsk remains one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the country. Local authorities have developed a new concept for the development of the urban territory and plan to create a cultural and historical centre and tourist infrastructure around the Spaso-Yefrosinievsky Monastery and the St. Sophia Cathedral. The territories adjacent to these main spiritual shrines of Belarus are to be completely transformed. What does the new concept for the development of the ancient city entail? How is Polotsk preparing for the festive events dedicated to the 1150th anniversary? How will the economy and social sphere develop? What opportunities does Polotsk offer for business development? Chairman of the Polotsk City Executive Committee Alexander Poznyak will answer these and other questions during the online conference. Questions for the conference participants can be submitted in advance or directly during the conference on the BELTA website www.belta.by in the "ONLINE CONFERENCE" section.-0-
