Within the framework of the visit, meetings were held with the Vice President of the People's Republic of China Han Zheng, Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Zhao Leji, Chairperson of the All-China Women's Federation Shen Yiqin, and the first meeting of the High-Level Committee for Cooperation between the legislative bodies of the Republic of Belarus and the People's Republic of China.
According to the speaker, the visit made it possible to identify new growth points in the cooperation between Belarus and the PRC. "Of course, this is the interaction between our parliaments," noted the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic. - The economic component is also very important for us. There was an absolute understanding here that we are truly strategic partners, that there are no forbidden topics for us, and we must cooperate very effectively. The growth in trade turnover is evidence of this. In 2023, the trade turnover amounted to over $8 billion. And in general, during our cooperation, it has grown more than 200 times. So, we see that we are working quite closely with the People's Republic of China, but we still have growth points."
During the visit, emphasis was also placed on cooperation between regions. "To date, more than 100 agreements have been signed between Chinese provinces and Belarusian regions and cities, but this is not the limit. We need to work more actively here. And the emphasis here was on the fact that regional cooperation should be more actively pursued by heads of the local vertical, enterprises, organisations, and heads of ministries and departments," emphasised Natalya Kochanova.
