This opinion was expressed to a BelTA correspondent by Taisa Danilevich, Deputy Chairperson of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives on Education, Culture and Science. As an example, Taisa Danilevich cited educational institutions in the Minsk region. "In the latest lessons in the region's schools, there are five-minute sessions called 'alphabet of safety', where children are reminded of how to behave on the road when returning home. In Lyuban and Soligorsk districts, stop signs are voluntarily operated not only by senior students and teachers, but also by parents. In Dzerzhinsk district, school buses are used as a resource centre for traffic rules," she said. In addition, a themed KVN (Club of the Funny and Resourceful) is held for schoolchildren of the Minsk region, and students of grades 5-7 participate in an Olympiad on the Rules of the Road. The National Children's Educational and Health Centre "Zubronok" hosts a specialised camp annually, during which children study the Rules of the Road. Collectively, these and other measures yield certain results, help avoid tragedies, teach children to be attentive and disciplined on the roads, and compel parents to pay attention to the need to observe the Rules of the Road in various situations. The tragic incident on November 13, when a third-grader was killed by a car driving away from a school in Minsk, should serve as a reason to approach the design of schools, kindergartens, and clinics more responsibly, the deputy believes. "This aspect must be taken into account to protect and ensure the safety of our children," she stressed.
