This year, 387 women from various regions of Belarus have been honoured with this award.
This high mark of maternal valour was established by a decree of the President of Belarus in 1995. In accordance with the decree, since 2006, mothers with many children awarded the Order of Motherhood receive a one-time cash payment equal to five times the subsistence minimum budget calculated on a per capita basis. Payments are made from the republican budget. In addition, in the regions of Belarus, various additional forms of encouragement for those awarded this order have been established by decisions of local executive and administrative bodies.
Since September 2012, women who have given birth to and raised nine or more children and have been awarded one of the state awards of the USSR or the Republic of Belarus, such as the Order of Motherhood, the Medal of Motherhood, the Order of Maternal Glory, or the Order of Mother Heroine, are eligible for a pension for special services to the Republic of Belarus.
