The autumn holidays in Senno will be opened by the regional festival of amateur puppet theatres, the head of the culture department of the Senno District Executive Committee, Larisa Novikova, told a BELTA correspondent. The participants of the regional festival-competition, which will take place on the first day of the holidays, November 1, will be 11 amateur groups from Novopolotsk, Shumilino, Verkhnedvinsk, Postavy, Dubrovno, Rossony, Gorodok, Glubokoye, Lepel, Chashniki. Senno will be represented by the puppet theatre "Petrushka", which was awarded the title of People's Amateur Collective this year. Thanks to this achievement, its hometown was chosen as the venue for the festival, noted Larisa Novikova. At the festival, the groups will present performances based on both well-known fairy tales and their own creations: "Teremok", "Tsar Herod", "Autumn Sorceress", "Magic Flute", "Masha and the Bear", "The New Adventures of the Cat from Prostokvashino", "Cuckoo Clock", etc. The fairy tale performances will be held at the District House of Culture. The audience will be over 500 children of primary and middle school age from all over the district. Before each performance, children will be greeted by fairy-tale characters and clowns, who will not only play fun games with the children but also view exhibitions of dolls and children's drawings opened on-site. The performances of the creative groups will be evaluated by a competent jury consisting of representatives from the Belarusian Puppet Theatre "Lyalka", the Vitebsk Regional Scientific and Methodological Centre for Folk Art, the College of Culture and Arts, the Department of Culture of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, and the Senno District Executive Committee, who will determine the winners of the Grand Prix and three prize places. Not only the contestants, but also the contestants will be delighted with gifts on this day. Several large families from the Senno district have been invited to the festival. After the performance, the performing groups will present specially prepared gifts to representatives of each of them. -0-
