16 May, Minsk /BELTA/. There are currently no grounds for increasing tuition fees at Belarusian higher education institutions. This opinion was expressed today during an online conference on the BELTA website by the Minister of Education, Sergey Maskevich. "The main factor that would determine the possibility of changing the prices of educational services is a change in the first-category wage rate, which entails a change in the labor costs for university lecturers. There are no such plans at the moment, which means there are no grounds for changes in the fees," he emphasized. At the same time, the minister did not rule out that if the prices of goods and services, and most importantly, the first-category wage rate, were to increase, then tuition fees might also rise. -0-
