The number of marriages exceeded the number of divorces. There were 29 marriages, four of which were registered in rural areas, compared to 16 divorces. According to the Code of Marriage and Family, since January 1, 2013, spouses who have mutually agreed to divorce, have no jointly minor children, and no property disputes can dissolve their marriages at the Civil Registry Office. There were five such couples last month. The divorce proceedings for the rest were handled by the Lepel District Court. The reasons for the dissolution of seven families were spousal alcohol abuse, lack of financial support from the spouse, and insult to the wife. All of these couples have minor children. In two cases, spouses separated due to incompatibility of characters, and in two cases, they have not lived together for a long time. These couples filed for divorce at the end of 2012, but the three-month period granted by the court for reconciliation did not change the situation.
