For the first 10 months of this year, the export of Vitebsk carpets in natural terms increased by 16.7% compared to the same period last year. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Elena Shchukina, Deputy General Director of Vitebsk Carpets OJSC.
"Our enterprise is export-oriented. Over 10 months, 12.9 million square meters of carpets and carpet products were supplied to near and far abroad countries. The share of exports in the volume of shipped products amounted to 87.4%. The export value for January-October was $33 million. The geography of supplies is quite extensive. We ship 86.3% of our products to the Russian Federation. In addition, we supply our carpets to Kyrgyzstan (7.5%), Kazakhstan (3.3%), Moldova (1.1%), as well as Armenia, Romania, Mongolia, and Hungary," noted the deputy general director of the enterprise.
She added that Vitebsk carpets are in demand in Russia not only in the border regions but also in the Far East, and even in the harsh climate of Murmansk. "Due to their scale, carpet products are presented in a wide variety of options in this market. However, certain trends in the use of colour schemes and patterns can be observed in different regions. In general, abstract patterns prevail in the carpet products we produce for supply to Russia. They are characterised by delicate beige and grey tones, adding comfort and cosiness to interiors. These colours are particularly popular in modern design and harmonise well with various styles. The eastern regions of Russia present their own unique traditional palette. Here, carpets stand out with bright red, blue, and green colours. These shades add energy and vibrancy to interiors, maintaining a connection with the region's rich cultural history," explained Elena Shchukina.
