The traffic police department of the Lepel District Department of Internal Affairs, as part of the implementation of the Comprehensive Measures to Improve Road Safety in the Republic of Belarus "Good Road", reminds cyclists of the traffic rules.

With the arrival of summer, the number of cyclists and moped riders on the road has sharply increased. Unfortunately, there have already been the first victims of such road traffic accidents. Today, we propose to review together the requirements of the Traffic Regulations for these categories of road users.

Clause 148. Cycling must be carried out on a cycle path, and in its absence – on the shoulder, pavement, or pedestrian path, without creating obstacles to the safe movement of pedestrians. If these road elements are absent or it is impossible to move on them, cyclists are permitted to ride on the carriageway in a single file, no further than 1 meter from its right edge. In this case:
Clause 148.1. Riding further than 1 meter from the right edge of the carriageway is permitted only for overtaking an obstacle and, in permitted cases, for turning left or making a U-turn;
Clause 148.2. Groups of cyclists riding on the carriageway must be divided into groups of no more than 10 cyclists. The distance between groups must be at least 100 meters;
Clause 148.3. If there is a horizontal road marking line 1.2 on the carriageway, denoting its edge, this line must be located to the left of the cyclist.
We draw your increased attention to this clause of the Traffic Regulations!!! Clause 149. When riding on the road in darkness and/or in conditions of insufficient visibility, a bicycle or moped must be equipped with: a headlight (lamp) emitting white light at the front, and a lamp emitting red light at the rear.
Clause 150. Outside of intersections, at an unregulated intersection of a cycle path with a road, a cyclist must yield to vehicles moving on that road.
Clause 151. When crossing the carriageway at a pedestrian crossing, a cyclist must walk (!!!) the bicycle next to them and be guided by the requirements stipulated by these Rules for pedestrian movement.
Clause 152. Moped riding must be carried out on the shoulder or the carriageway, no further than 1 meter from the right edge of the carriageway. In this case, riding further than 1 meter from its right edge is permitted only for overtaking an obstacle and, in permitted cases, for turning left or making a U-turn.
Clause 153. Cyclists and moped riders are prohibited from:
Clause 153.1. Using technically faulty bicycles and mopeds, as well as those equipped in violation of the requirements of technical regulatory legal acts;
