On the eve of Mother's Day, we met with Elena Belskaya, Head of the Civil Registry Office of the Lepel District Executive Committee, and learned some insightful statistics. Birth rates, the average age of mothers, the most popular names for newborns – interesting facts are presented below.

As Elena Konstantinovna shared, over 9 months of 2023, 151 babies were born in the Lepel district – 73 boys and 78 girls. This is 4 more babies than in the same period last year.

The average age of young mothers is 28 years, and fathers – 30. The youngest mother was a 17-year-old girl, and the youngest father was a 19-year-old young man. The most "experienced" parents were two mothers aged 42 and 44, and two fathers aged 51 and 57.

The majority of children – 134 – were born into intact families, while 17 babies were born to women who will raise children without fathers.

Presenting the statistics, the Head of the Civil Registry Office noted a pleasant trend – the number of children in families in the Lepel district has increased. The majority (102 out of 151 newborns) are not firstborns. Thus, 60 babies were born as second children in families, 31 as third, seven babies were born fourth, and four – fifth!

The most popular names for girls in 2023 were Sofia, Vasilisa, Kira, and Stefania. For boys – Maxim, Mikhail, and Vladislav.

Girls were also given such exotic names as Francesca, Dalia, Sabina, while the name Polina is no longer super popular.
