"Frank and tough conversation" - Eismont told details of the closed part of Lukashenko's meeting with security forces

The demands on the quality of work of the law enforcement bloc in Belarus will only increase. At the same time, the state's attitude towards violations of the law, including banditry and corruption, will remain the same and even stricter. This was stated to journalists by the Press Secretary of the President of Belarus, Natalya Eismont, following a meeting with the Head of State, Alexander Lukashenko, on the topic of law enforcement officers' work, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

The meeting lasted about three and a half hours, and it was a difficult, frank, and often tough conversation, noted Natalya Eismont. "Those who rushed to see some future leniency or, even more so, some PR campaign, simply underestimate the situation and do not know our President. The demands will only increase from today onwards, and the demands will be on all fronts," emphasized the President's Press Secretary.

She drew attention to the fact that the state's attitude towards banditry, corruption, and other violations of the law will remain the same and even stricter. "That is, there will be no leniency, no matter what anyone sees. Those who belong in prison should be and will be in prison. This is unequivocal," said Natalya Eismont.

At the same time, the Head of State demanded that innocent people do not suffer during criminal investigations. "Justice is indeed the key word here. The President has drawn attention to this more than once. In this regard, control over the quality of work of law enforcement agencies will be significantly strengthened. And this is precisely justice," noted Natalya Eismont.

During the meeting, Alexander Lukashenko publicly and in detail outlined the shortcomings in the work of the security forces. "I want to emphasize this particularly: the President today declassified, perhaps, one of the most closed documents that came to him after thorough processing by the relevant structures. That is, this is what, in simple terms, the law enforcement officers themselves dug up," the Press Secretary noted. "The President did not dwell on any specific facts, did not specify anything, so as not to divert the conversation to the discussion of some private examples or cases. The main goal was to specify and name the problems, shortcomings, and demand explanations from those present regarding these problems and shortcomings."

According to Natalia Eismont, during the closed part of the meeting, each participant had the opportunity to speak and present their position. For example, the Head of the Presidential Administration and the State Secretary of the Security Council gave their assessment of the situation. The Chairman of the Supreme Court elaborated on the work of the Investigative Committee, identifying shortcomings and making a number of proposals. "The President specifically addressed the governors, as they are his first representatives in the regions. And here is the strict requirement of the head of state that they must see the situation. They must see excesses and promptly inform the President about them. In Belarus, power belongs to the people, and it must and will see the interests of the people. This is the key message of the head of state to the meeting participants," the press secretary said.

Speaking about the outcomes of the meeting, Natalia Eismont noted that for the law enforcement system of Belarus, today was indeed a historic moment, a serious turning point in its work. And these are by no means empty words, she emphasized. "You are well aware of our President's attitude towards corruption, economic crimes, and indeed towards any form of law violation. Therefore, from today onwards, the demands will increase, as will the pressure. Bandits will be treated exclusively as bandits, and the remarks and shortcomings identified and voiced today will be eradicated with a firm hand," the press secretary of the head of state stressed.

Concluding the meeting, Alexander Lukashenko noted that, on the whole, a decent system of work for law enforcement agencies has been established in the country, but he demands that managers not turn a blind eye to existing negative manifestations, but rather eliminate all bottlenecks and, most importantly, see the fate of a person behind every fact.
