While everyone is getting into the festive spirit, scammers are preying on the trusting. Towards the end of the year, a wave of "cute" greetings swept through messengers: GIFs, videos, animations – all beautiful, all festive… and all containing a virus.
The main trap is files with the .apk extension, disguised as greetings. You open them, and a virus quietly installs on your phone, which can steal your banking details, passwords, and access to your accounts. The result is an empty account and a lot of trouble. What to do:
— Do not open "greetings" from strangers.
— See .apk? Don't even touch it.
— If a friend sent it, clarify if they actually sent it.
Sometimes a person might not even notice that their account has been hacked and viruses are being sent out in their name.
Holidays are holidays, but caution is always advised.
