An exhibition of Christmas tree decorations, postcards, and New Year's attributes will open on December 18 at the Vitebsk City Hall, a BELTA correspondent was informed at the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore.
The exhibition includes 550 ornaments from the collection of Natalia Kovaleva, which adorned Christmas trees in Soviet homes from the 1970s to the 1990s, and New Year's attributes from the museum's collections: themed postcards from that period and various calendars, the oldest of which dates back to 1938. Also, a recreated interior corner of a 1980s "living room" is featured at the exhibition: table and wall clocks, furniture, carpets, children's winter clothing, skates, a Christmas tree – everything that will help immerse visitors in the everyday culture of that time.
"Christmas tree decorations from this collector have been exhibited at our museum before. On the eve of the winter holidays, visitors will once again be able to immerse themselves in the magical atmosphere of their childhood and their parents' childhood. The children's toys, books, candy wrappers, and photographs of children in costumes, carefully made by their mothers, presented at the exhibition will help preserve brighter memories," the museum added.
