The Department of Internal Affairs of the Lepel District Executive Committee is conducting a set of additional measures to prevent crimes against elderly citizens.

To avoid becoming a victim of crime:
- do not let strangers into your home;
- demand that individuals who present themselves as employees of social, housing, and other services show their identification documents. If they refuse to present documents, report to the police by calling 102;
- do not engage in conversation with individuals offering to remove curses;
- do not buy household appliances or other goods from unknown individuals on the street;
- do not exchange banknotes with strangers;
- under no pretext should you hand over your belongings and money to strangers, especially for them to provide services in acquiring an apartment, car, building materials, fuel, food products, and other items, for carrying out any work, or for the purpose of favourably resolving an issue with officials regarding non-prosecution, passing exams, resolving housing issues, etc.;
- do not lend large sums of money without proper legal documentation and witnesses.
