The Lepel Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora reminds that, in accordance with the Rules of Hunting Management and Hunting, the spring hunting season in 2022 opens on March 12 for waterfowl and on March 20 for game birds.
During the spring period, the hunting of animals of any sex and age of the white-fronted goose, bean goose, grey goose, and Canada goose is permitted. For mallards, wigeons, goldeneyes, shovelers, red-crested pochards, tufted pochards, garganeys, and teals, only drakes are subject to hunting. For woodcocks, only males are permitted.
Waterfowl hunting is conducted in the morning and evening hours, excluding the period between 12:00 and 18:00. Woodcock hunting is restricted to evening hours only, from 18:00 to 22:00.
The hunting of geese and ducks is carried out by firearm from a hide or ambush, using a camouflage cloak and decoys, including calls, live decoys (geese or ducks), and/or silhouette decoys and/or stuffed decoys of geese and ducks. Smoothbore hunting firearms using shot-loaded cartridges are used. Terriers, dachshunds, pointers, spaniels, retrievers, and water dogs may be used for tracking and retrieving downed game. Woodcock hunting is traditionally conducted during their display flights using the same firearms and dog breeds as for waterfowl hunting in this hunting season.
The total duration of the spring hunting season for geese and ducks cannot exceed 28 days permitted for firearm hunting of these non-quota species, except for hunting during hunting tours.
