Once, between the villages of Zabalatsye and Padymkhi, there was a livestock farm “Zabalatsye” of the state farm “Lepelsky”. Over time, it fell into disrepair due to the demolition of the premises. Two barns, where 1000 calves were fattened, were left empty.
The management of the closed joint-stock company “Vitebskagroproduct” decided to reconstruct the buildings and establish a breeding farm there. Productive sows will be kept there, which will produce offspring of the same kind. In addition, the head of the breeding farm, a veterinarian, and a livestock specialist-breeder will achieve offspring with high immunity to adverse factors, carcass formation in accordance with European standards, and doubling of reproductive properties (number of offspring) of sows through cross-breeding.
One livestock building is practically operational. It houses 135 future sows, purchased from Denmark at 1000 euros per head, weighing 40-45 kilograms.
Denmark was not chosen by chance. In this country with a population of five million, 25 million pigs are cared for annually. Of course, Danes themselves cannot consume such a quantity of pork. The products of their activities are distributed worldwide, as their quality meets the taste of the most demanding consumers.
The Danes did not just sell their products to Belarusians, but took it upon themselves to supervise the production process on the condition that Danish equipment, or equipment agreed upon with them (Belarusian and Ukrainian), would be used, construction and installation would be carried out according to their project, and animal husbandry would follow their technology.
The breeding farm is designed to accommodate 400 sows and 4000 pigs of different ages. Animals will be distributed among waiting, mating, farrowing, growing, and fattening sections. About six workers will be involved in animal husbandry.
Reconstruction is being carried out by our own efforts. The installation of equipment in the second barn is currently underway. This year, an administrative building will be constructed, and the territory will be fenced. In the future, it is planned to erect a third barn.
To provide the production with water, an old artesian well has been "revived". Manure will flow through slatted floors via pipelines into a fully enclosed tank, from where it will be regularly pumped into a storage container, transported, and applied to the fields of the agricultural enterprise "Lepelsky".
Gas has been supplied for heating and hot water for technological and domestic needs. Automation will maintain the microclimate in the premises and dose feed.
