It is planned that the House of Representatives will adopt the draft law "On state benefits for families raising children" in the first reading during the autumn session, reported Oleg Velichko, Chairman of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives on Health, Physical Culture, Family and Youth Affairs, to a BelTA correspondent. As the deputy explained, this document proposes to increase the amounts of child care benefits up to three years of age. It will be pegged not to the subsistence minimum budget, but to the average monthly salary in the country. For the first child, a monthly benefit up to three years of age is proposed at 35% of the average salary, for the second and subsequent children - 40% each, and for a child with a disability - 45%. In addition, the draft law expands the circle of those eligible for these state benefits. Currently, these are families of Belarusian and foreign citizens, as well as stateless persons permanently residing in Belarus. The document proposes to add to them citizens of Belarus, other countries, and stateless persons who temporarily reside in Belarus, as well as foreign citizens and stateless persons with refugee status. In this case, temporary residents will have to pay mandatory social insurance contributions. The document also contains some other proposals. Deputies continue to work on this draft law. -0-
