Traditionally, as part of the preparations for City Day, a competition for the most beautiful and well-maintained house was held. This year, it was organised in two categories – the best residential house of a young family (under 31 years of age) and the best adjacent territory (regardless of the owners' age).

This year, it was organised in two categories – the best residential house of a young family (under 31 years of age) and the best adjacent territory (regardless of the owners' age). One can only imagine how challenging the task was for the competition organisers, and primarily for the jury. Driving along the streets, one's eyes are involuntarily drawn to this or that homestead. Personally, I first pay attention to the traditional and new materials and technologies used in construction. Women, on the other hand, are more attracted to flowers, ornamental shrubs, lawns, and other decorative elements. They are more often delighted by picturesque scenes on the walls of houses and outbuildings.
When making their choice, the commission visited all the streets in all the districts. It seemed they had found a house to be awarded, but upon looking around, the next one was even more beautiful! And the work had to start all over again.
In the young family house category, first prize was awarded to house No. 1 on 3rd Zarechnaya Street. Marina Vershalovskaya lives there with her husband Sergey and daughter Liza.
Sergey and Marina got married in 2011, and at the same time, they acquired their plot of land. They started construction, poured the foundation, and after that, they were granted a preferential loan for construction.
They do almost everything themselves with the help of Sergey Petrovich, Sergey's father. According to his wife, the husband is an excellent builder. In addition, he is registered as an individual entrepreneur and provides services for the construction and repair of residential houses, utility rooms, and interior finishing works. As they say, such a husband has all the cards in hand.
With his strong and skilled hands, he tackled the work so energetically that within two years, in 2013, the family moved into their new home. Now, a beautiful, plastered, orange-painted house with double-glazed windows stands on the plot. Nearby are outbuildings. And the small playground for Liza, in the author's opinion, is a real masterpiece. Take, for example, the sandbox, which, when open, has two wooden benches, and when closed, protects the sand from rain and dirt.
There was also a task for Maryna. She went on childcare leave from her job at MKC. Although time is not abundant, she still manages to prepare and look after a flowerbed, planting and growing bright flowers.
The young family continues further improvement.
It is worth noting that next to the winning house are other, in the author's opinion, equally beautiful buildings – very decent company, good neighbours, among whom it is difficult to choose the best.
Fatima and Vadim Kamelev received the plot for construction on S. Lazo Street at the end of the Soviet Union, in 1988. They did not delay the construction; on January 2, 1992, they invited their neighbours for a housewarming.
By the way, Fatima Khasanovna spoke only the best words about her neighbours. Almost all of them are of the same age, they received plots together, built houses, helped each other, celebrated holidays together, and experienced moments of grief and setbacks.
Initially, all the land around the house, free from buildings, was used for garden beds, and greenhouses were erected, where the diligent hostess grew almost everything – from cucumbers and parsley to peppers and tomatoes.
Now the children, Maksim and Ina, have moved out and live independently. Vadim Gennadievich works as a fitter at MKC, and Fatima Khasanovna is a saleswoman at the "Master" building materials store, located next to the central pharmacy. The owners themselves continue to regularly work around the house, improving and perfecting it. They installed a water supply and gas, planted several fruit trees, laid a lawn in front of the house instead of the former garden beds, and a flowerbed along the path. The lawn is mainly taken care of by the owner, while the woman looks after the flowers.
Another element that I personally liked very much: the Kamelevs' plot is fenced not with the currently fashionable solid metal profile, through which sunlight does not penetrate, but with a neat metal mesh. It turned out to be reliable, durable, and at the same time very beautiful.
When the inspection was finally completed and the choice was made, all members of the commission sighed with relief. Until the next City Day.
