The initiative for this commendable undertaking was spearheaded by Alexander Zabello, Chairman of the Belgospishcheprom concern, who grew up in this locality. "Observing that the concrete obelisk on the mass grave of Soviet soldiers fallen during the war, erected in the 1950s, had deteriorated over time, he proposed its reconstruction and the improvement of the site of military glory. The proposal was met with support and, in close cooperation with the village council and with the sponsorship of the Malorita Canning and Vegetable Drying Plant and the Grodno Tobacco Factory "Neman", was brought to fruition," the district executive committee noted.
The renovated memorial sign is a marble stele inscribed with the names and ranks of 45 Soviet soldiers who perished during the war while defending Moshkovo. The adjacent area has been landscaped, and a gazebo has been installed. In memory of the fallen, 50 birch trees have been planted. The grand opening of the memorial sign after reconstruction will take place on July 28. All participants of the initiative, representatives of local authorities, and local residents will attend the celebratory event.
