The regional professional skills competition for the green construction worker profession will be held today in Verkhnedvinsk, as reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Vitebsk Regional Organisation of the Trade Union of Local Industry and Public Utilities Enterprises.
The competition will be held for the 5th time and will be dedicated to the Year of Small Motherland. Employees of 10 public utility enterprises of the Vitebsk region will compete for the title of the best workers in landscape design and landscaping. Each team consists of 3 people.
"The main challenge for the contestants will be the creation of living panels and thematic compositions from flowers and decorative plants using original designs and other creative solutions. Participants will thus contribute to the decoration of the capital of the regional "Dazhynki" festival," the regional trade union organisation noted. "Such a competition, combining practice and theory, will allow green construction workers to improve their professional level and exchange ideas and experience."
In addition, participants will have to demonstrate their theoretical knowledge by answering 10 specialised questions on the technology of flower bed construction, planting of shrubs and trees. The first part of the competition will focus on the rules and techniques of caring for plantings, flower crops, and occupational safety issues.
When evaluating the works, the adherence to planting technology, the complexity of the flower bed design, and the quality and assortment of seedlings will be taken into account. The brightness and boldness of the solutions, as well as compliance with occupational safety regulations, will also be important. The professional jury will also pay attention to how the workers demonstrate ingenuity to create original works from seemingly ordinary materials.
The winning teams and all participants of the competition will receive diplomas and valuable gifts from the regional trade union committee.
