Parliamentary hearings dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory are planned to be held in Belarus in April.

Parliamentary hearings on the topic "75th Anniversary of the Great Victory: Historical Memory and Patriotism - the Most Important Moral Guidelines of Belarusian Society and State, Factors of Consolidation in the Face of Modern Challenges and Threats" are planned to be held in April. This decision was made today by the Council of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, BELTA correspondent reports.

"In the landmark year of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory, amid escalating attempts to rewrite history, diminish the role of the Soviet people in the victory over fascism, and hold the Soviet Union equally responsible with the Nazis for unleashing the war, it is deemed necessary to express the position of the Belarusian people at the parliamentary level regarding the inadmissibility of distorting historical truth about the Great Patriotic War, to draw attention to the issues of further immortalizing the military feat of the older generation and forming a moral and patriotic core in youth, based on love for the Fatherland and respect for historical heritage," said Gennady Davydko, Chairman of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives on Human Rights, National Relations and Mass Media.

It is proposed to hold open parliamentary hearings during the spring session of the House of Representatives with the participation of veterans of the Great Patriotic War, representatives of government bodies, the public, major denominations, the diplomatic corps, and international organizations. Based on their results, it is proposed to adopt a resolution and recommendations.
