7 December, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. A consignment of non-ferrous metal has been detained in the Verkhnedvinsk district, BELTA was informed by the Information and Public Relations Department of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee. This morning, during operational activities, officers of the Verkhnedvinsk District Department of Internal Affairs stopped an "Iveco" vehicle on the Verkhnedvinsk-Sharkovshchina-Kozyany highway near the village of Zhiguli. The vehicle was driven by an unemployed resident of Glubokoye, born in 1977. The man was transporting 3 tonnes of non-ferrous metal scrap without accompanying documents, with a total value exceeding Br15 million. The vehicle and the cargo have been detained, and an investigation is underway. In total, from January to November, law enforcement officers of the Vitebsk region seized 634.1 tonnes of non-ferrous and ferrous metal scrap to a total value of approximately Br2 billion, including 112.5 tonnes of non-ferrous and 521.6 tonnes of ferrous metal. -0-
