On October 4, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. Belarusian and Russian scientists will discuss the partisan movement in the Vitebsk region at a conference in Vitebsk, reported to BELTA correspondent Irina Shishkova, Director of the Vitebsk Regional Museum of the Hero of the Soviet Union Minay Shmyrev. The Republican Scientific and Practical Conference "Partisan and Underground Movement in the Vitebsk Region in 1941-1944", dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Belarusian Headquarters of the Partisan Movement, will be held on October 4-5 as part of the republican project "Raising the Status of Rescued Residents of Burned Belarusian Villages of 1941-1944". Scientists, historians, and museum workers from various regions of Belarus and the Smolensk region of Russia will gather in the city on the Dvina to consider topical issues on this topic. During the conference, participants will discuss the prerequisites for the development of the partisan and underground movement, the organisation of material and technical support for partisans and medical care in partisan formations, and the significance of the Surazh Gate in the history of the Great Patriotic War. A separate block of issues is related to partisan life, the role of women and children in the anti-fascist resistance. The conference is designed to open little-known pages of the history of the partisan movement in the Vitebsk region, and to emphasise the contribution of the rescued residents of burned Belarusian villages to the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders. The event is organised by the Department of Culture of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, the Vitebsk Regional Museum of the Hero of the Soviet Union M.F. Shmyrev, Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov, the Vitebsk Regional Branch of the Belarusian Peace Fund, and the Vitebsk Regional Organisational Structure of the Belarusian Society "Znanie".-0-
