The Vitebsk Regional Methodological Centre of Folk Art will host the opening of the regional Easter exhibition "Svetly Den" (Bright Day), BELTA was informed by the institution.
Residents and guests of Vitebsk will be able to see the works of folk art craft masters of the region. The exhibition features works of exemplary ornamental knitting (mittens, socks, hats, scarves, vests, souvenirs), openwork knitting (napkins, tablecloths), replicas of artifacts of ancient knitting techniques, and works of felting craft (valenki, magerki, toys, mittens, souvenirs). Visitors will also see works made of felt and knitted textiles.
In addition, the Methodological Centre is opening a personal exhibition by Nadezhda Gutnikova, a methodologist-master from the Vitebsk District Centre of Folk Art Crafts "Adradzhenne", titled "Reconstructed Costumes of Folk Clothing of Vitebsk Uyezd Residents in the Early 20th Century". At the exhibition, the artist will present several collections of men's and women's costumes, recreated from original items from the collections of the Vitebsk Regional Museum, as well as the Museum of Local Lore of Velikiye Luki (Russia). The exhibition will feature a total of 12 costumes.
Nadezhda Gutnikova has been professionally engaged in the reconstruction of items for many years. The master has received numerous diplomas for victories at international and republican exhibitions and competitions in Belarus, Russia, Italy, Slovenia, and Cyprus.
Both exhibitions at the Methodological Centre will be open until April 5.
