On January 24 and 25, 2014, the Vitebsk region judo championship competitions for boys and girls born in 1998-1999 were held in Polotsk at the "Olimpiets" sports complex as part of the Youth Olympic Days. Pupils of the judo section of the Lepel Olympic Reserve Children and Youth Sports School "Volat" performed successfully. Anna Gonchar took first place among her peers in the weight category up to 44 kilograms. Lepel resident Dmitry Gruk finished his bout in the weight category up to 66 kilograms with a victory. Another compatriot, Vladislav Pshonka, took a place on the podium right next to Dmitry – he won third place. Kirill Kuzmionok and Artur Raokhanakh took honorable fourth places in their respective weight categories.
Anna Gonchar and Dmitry Gruk have been included in the Vitebsk region judo team, which will participate in the republican championship of the Youth Olympic Days in Babruisk from February 6-8 of the current year.
