28 September, Minsk /BELTA correspondent/. The first session of the new – fifth – convocation of the Council of the Republic will begin on 19 October. This decision was made today at a meeting of the Central Election Commission of Belarus, BELTA correspondent reports. Today, at a meeting of the Central Election Commission, the Chairperson of the CEC, Lidiya Yermoshina, noted that the start dates of the sessions of the new convocations of both chambers of parliament significantly affect the timing of the next elections. She also emphasized that the first meetings should begin almost simultaneously, because the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic, as is known, work in conjunction with each other. In addition, Lidiya Yermoshina reported that the first session of the new convocation of the Council of the Republic is expected to begin in the new building – the former premises of the National Library. -0-
