The first thousand-tonne crew has appeared in the Vitebsk region, BELTA was informed by the Vitebsk Regional Committee of the Agro-Industrial Complex Workers' Trade Union. Among the adult crews, the duo of senior combine operator Vladimir Lavtsevich and combine operator assistant Pavel Shulga from OJSC "Dokshitsy Rayagorservice" was the first in the region to thresh 1 thousand tonnes of grain. The cherished milestone was overcome by the friendly team on 2 August. A ceremony to honour the winners with the participation of representatives from the regional agricultural production department, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, and local authorities will take place today. As a reward, they will be presented with honorary diplomas and a cash bonus of 15 base units (per crew). The appearance of thousand-tonne crews is also expected in the Chashniki and Lepel districts in the coming days, where the grain harvest by crews in individual farms has already exceeded 800 tonnes. Among the youth crews, the leaders at present are machine operators from the Orsha and Verkhnedvinsk districts, who have threshed over 750 tonnes. In total, as of 3 August, 152.6 thousand hectares of grain crops have been mown in the Vitebsk region, or 31.2%. The grain harvest has reached 499.1 thousand tonnes with an average yield of 32.7 centners per hectare. The highest yields are noted in the Verkhnedvinsk (38.4 centners/ha), Orsha (37.2 centners/ha), and Chashniki districts (36.3 centners/ha). The harvest campaign is progressing at the most active pace in the Beshenkovichi, Glubokoye, Dokshitsy, Lepel, Polotsk, Postavy, Chashniki, and Sharkovshchina districts, where from 33% to 43% of the areas have been mown.
