During the first stage of the republican preventive campaign "Focus on Children!" rescuers from Lepel district, together with activists of the district branch of the Belarusian Youth Public Association of Rescuers and Firefighters (BYPA), placed a set of firefighting gear, a fire extinguisher, and an autonomous smoke detector with an eye-catching inscription "For children left unattended" in the children's clothing and stationery departments of the city department store. Both adult shoppers and their children were invited to participate in the "Extinguish the Fire" and "Fire Shield" contests, and to take part in a quiz where adults and children demonstrated their knowledge of life safety fundamentals. It is worth noting that some schoolchildren showed more advanced knowledge than their parents. Preventive talks were also held with shoppers, recommending the purchase of smoke detectors and their installation in their homes for safety purposes, urging them not to leave their children unattended, and providing examples of tragic child fatalities. The information and awareness campaign "We are proud to have taught!" was presented. A photo zone was set up in the shopping area where parents could take memorable photos with their children. To reinforce the information received, all participants were given visual aids.
