24 July, Minsk /Tatyana Chumakova - BELTA/. Belarusian agricultural organizations have harvested the first million tonnes of grain from the new crop, BELTA was informed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
1 million 53.8 thousand tonnes of grain have already been threshed, with an average yield of 37.8 centners per hectare. The highest yield is in the Grodno region (49.3 centners per hectare), and the lowest is in the Gomel region (29.6 centners per hectare).
Cereals and legumes have been harvested from 278.7 thousand hectares, which is 11.5% of the planned area. The Brest region has already fulfilled its plan by 29.9%, the Vitebsk region by 0.9%, the Gomel region by 22.3%, the Grodno region by 11.8%, the Minsk region by 6.7%, and the Mogilev region by 2.6%. In 2012, cereals and legumes are to be harvested from a total area of 2 million 428.4 thousand hectares. Under favorable weather conditions, the harvesting of cereals and legumes will last from 18 to 24 days.
Winter rapeseed has already been harvested from 322.8 thousand hectares (85.2% of the sown area), yielding 680.5 thousand tonnes with an average seed yield of 21.1 centners per hectare. Flax has been pulled from 8.9 thousand hectares (13.9%). -0-
