The first Republican Congress "Mama Pro" will be held in Minsk on October 1, the organisers told BELTA.
Future and current parents will have the opportunity to meet and talk with representatives of all maternity hospitals in Minsk in one venue.
The main goal of the congress is to share experience in the prevention of premature births, discuss issues of pregnancy management and the opportunities provided in Belarusian maternity hospitals for childbirth assistance, improve communication in the "doctor-patient" system, increase the level of reproductive literacy, and promote family values and happy motherhood.
During the congress, participants will receive information from specialists and experts on pregnancy planning and important aspects of its management, dietary features, pain relief during childbirth, breastfeeding, introduction of complementary feeding, parental actions in emergency situations, and newborn peculiarities.
"Mama Pro" will bring together various specialists as speakers – laboratory diagnostic doctors, obstetrician-gynaecologists, dietitians, anaesthesiologists-resuscitators, breastfeeding specialists, and paediatricians. In the masterclass zone, participants will be able to gain the necessary knowledge and skills for baby care. A "Mama-market" will also be open, where future parents and newborns can find essential goods and products.
It is planned that the congress will launch a series of events to be held in all regions of the country. Also, on October 1, the "Mama-Reads" project will be launched. Each congress participant can bring a book on motherhood and childhood. All books will be donated to maternity hospitals in Minsk. They will be particularly useful for mothers who are in rehabilitation wards with their babies born prematurely.
The event is organised by the information social and charitable institution for the assistance of children and families "Baby Story" with the support of the Ministry of Health, the Minsk City Executive Committee, and the Department of Public Health and Healthcare of BelMAPO.
