A new 40-apartment residential building has been solemnly commissioned in the urban settlement of Ushachi, the local district executive committee informed a BELTA correspondent.

"The last multi-apartment residential building in Ushachi was commissioned in 2012, and since 2013, no multi-apartment housing construction has been carried out in the district. Meanwhile, as of January 1 this year, 709 people were registered as needing improved housing conditions, including 50 large families. Therefore, in May, the construction of the district's first shared-equity 40-apartment residential building on Vitebskaya Street was commenced," the district executive committee explained.

The customer for the works was the Capital Construction Department of Ushachi District, and the contractor was Shumilinskaya PMK-70. The project was developed by Vitebskselstroyproekt. Construction was carried out with state support, and funds from the regional budget were allocated for the engineering and transport infrastructure. All 40 contracts were concluded with equity holders from among citizens in need of improved housing conditions: 20 apartments were built for large families (including 7 for which the state reimbursed the full cost of housing) and 20 for families according to the queue of those in need registered with the district executive committee.

"In total, for 2016, a credit line of Br13.2 billion (undenominated) was provided, with a total construction cost of just over Br20 billion. The equity holders' own funds amounted to Br1.11 billion. However, given the importance of this, in essence, social facility, all necessary credit resources were subsequently allocated," the district executive committee added.

Although the building itself has already been commissioned, the exterior finishing and landscaping works have been postponed to a more favourable period of the year. Therefore, only a symbolic key was handed over to the customer at the event. Future новоселы (new settlers) also came to see the results of the builders' work. Despite the fact that these families will celebrate the New Year in their old homes, they are already anticipating the upcoming pleasant chores of settling into their new apartments.
