Vitebsk District leads the region in harvest progress, exceeding the regional average by almost one and a half times (43 percent versus 29). The district already has 11 crews that have harvested over a thousand tonnes, including three youth crews. The first crew to harvest over two thousand tonnes in the entire Vitebsk region was Valentin Yashchenko, a machine operator from UP "Rudakovo".

Valentin Yashchenko has been working in agriculture for 18 years, six of which have been at UP "Rudakovo". He moved to Vitebsk District with his family from Sharkovshchyna District on a friend's advice. Initially, the farm provided the large family with a house in the agro-town of Novka, and later they were given an apartment in a new building in the agro-town of Tulovo.

When Valentin joined UP "Rudakovo" as a machine operator six years ago, he immediately became the first to harvest over a thousand tonnes in the district, and has maintained this level ever since. However, he admits that this year he became a leader at the regional level for the first time.

The Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin, congratulated Valentin Yashchenko directly in the field, wished him to reach a new milestone of 3,000 tonnes, and presented him with a commemorative gift.

Anatoly Linevich, Aide to the President – Inspector for Vitebsk Region, wished him strong health, family well-being, and to return home after the harvest with a full wallet:

There are two most important professions – defending the Motherland and harvesting grain. You have chosen one of them and you are showing how our Belarusians worthily work in the field of grain. We wish you success!
