The first among the youth crews in the Vitebsk region to thresh 1 thousand tons of grain were combine operators from the Verkhnedvinsk district, as reported to BELTA correspondent by the Vitebsk Regional Committee of the Trade Union of Agricultural Workers. The tandem of Sergey Gapanovich and Alexey Pilyushin from OJSC "Prudinki" were the first in the region to thresh one thousand tons of grain by the evening of August 4, using a KZS-1218 combine, having harvested grain from 267 hectares. Last year, their team also became the leader of the regional production competition among youth crews. As of the morning of August 6, four crews have joined the ranks of the frontrunners of the harvest in the Vitebsk region, having surpassed the thousand-ton mark for grain threshing. In addition to the aforementioned team, these include Vladimir Lavtsevich and Pavel Shul'gat from OJSC "Dokshitskiy Rayagriservice", Petr Dukhovich and Artur Leyko from Agricultural Production Cooperative "Zaozer'e" of Lepel district, and Alexander Zyabko from Agricultural Enterprise "Chashnikskoe". In the Vitebsk region, 202.6 thousand hectares of grain crops have been harvested, which is 41.5% of the sown areas. Almost 659 thousand tons of grain have been threshed, with an average yield of 32.5 centners per hectare.
