April 19, Vitebsk /Alena Tikhonova - BELTA/. The sowing of spring grain crops has begun in five districts of the Vitebsk region, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Agriculture and Food Department informed a BELTA correspondent.
"Farmers in Chashniki, Senno, Lepel, Beshenkovichi, and Shumilino districts have started the spring sowing campaign. In total, about 100 hectares have already been sown in the farms of these regions," specialists noted.
Mass sowing of spring crops in the region will begin in the middle of next week. "Within five days, all districts will join the sowing campaign," the regional agricultural department emphasized.
Fertilisation of winter crops is being carried out simultaneously with sowing. This year, the total sown area in the Vitebsk region will be 850 thousand hectares, of which winter grains account for 231 thousand hectares, and winter rapeseed for 55 thousand hectares. -0-
