Five districts of the Vitebsk region have completed sowing of spring grain crops, the deputy chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Committee for Agriculture and Food, Ivan Fedorov, informed a BELTA correspondent. As of May 14, the top five leaders in sowing included Chashniki, Beshenkovichi, Gorodok, Dokshytsy, and Tolochin districts. It is expected that today Orsha, Dubrovno, Glubokoe, and Lepel districts will complete this work. The rest are close to finishing sowing spring grains, said Ivan Fedorov, noting that a total of 228 thousand hectares, or 89% of the planned area, have been sown in the region. Farms have successfully completed flax sowing. This year, this crop will be grown on 20 thousand hectares in all districts of the region, except for Rossony. Now the efforts of farmers are focused on sowing corn, which will occupy 100 thousand hectares, 30 thousand of which have already been sown with this crop. The planting of vegetables and potatoes is also progressing at a rapid pace in the region. The latter has already occupied 2.5 thousand hectares, or 51% of the planned area. -0-
