Since 2014, the republican state-public association "Belarusian Society of Hunters and Fishermen" has traditionally held the "Clean Water Body" campaign in the spring period. The campaign is primarily aimed at the ecological education of all segments of the population, drawing attention to the problem of water body pollution, as well as at tidying up the coastal zone of water bodies and watercourses before the start of the mass outdoor recreation season.
During this period, the republican state-public association "Belarusian Society of Hunters and Fishermen" has tidied up over two thousand kilometers of the coastline of water bodies and watercourses in the country. In total, about twenty thousand people took part in the campaign, and over three thousand cubic meters of waste were collected and transported to municipal solid waste landfills.
Significant work within the framework of the "Clean Water Body" campaign is also being carried out in the Lepel district. The St. Mary's Lake and its coastal zone are literally acquiring an attractive appearance before our eyes. Employees of the Lepel Communal Unitary Enterprise of Reclamation Systems "Lepel PMU" have cleaned the water in the lake using special equipment. Soil planning is carried out by the road construction department No. 34. Since a beach area is planned to be created near the lake, employees of the branch of the road maintenance department No. 34 of RUE "Vitebskavtodor" have brought sand here.
Employees of the Department of Education, Sports and Tourism of the District Executive Committee, the Lepel Children's Art School, as well as the editorial office of the district newspaper "Lepel Krai" and local television have worked effectively to clean the coastal zone of debris. Activists of the Lepel regional organization of the GO "BRSM" also worked diligently to clean the lake area of debris.
Work on improving the coastal zone is ongoing. In the future, it is planned to equip a volleyball court, install horizontal bars, container sites for waste collection, and set up benches.
