Sanctions and lockdowns, while extraordinary measures, do not always hinder the development of partnerships between countries. This has been proven by the people of Vitebsk. A one-and-a-half-fold increase and 2.5 billion dollars: these are the results of the foreign economic activities of enterprises in the Vitebsk region last year.

Valentina Glebko, Head of the Foreign Economic Activity Department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Economics Committee, spoke about the industrialists' plans for the current year:

– A comprehensive set of measures has been developed for the further development of the region's economic sector, – Valentina Alexandrovna shares plans for the near future. – The main directions of foreign trade include: increasing sales of agricultural products and foodstuffs by 6-8 percent, deeper processing of raw materials as a result of the construction of new production facilities, and an 8-10 percent growth in sawn timber exports due to the modernisation of the enterprises "Vitebsk Lesopilka", "Akitama", "KimaBel".

Economists plan to increase the sale of cable products abroad by 10 percent – state support provided to LLC "PO "Energokomplekt" will allow this. The main focus in the geography of supplies is on countries of the so-called "far arc". Exports of goods to these countries are expected to increase from 8 to 9-10 percent.
