"We plan to increase the sowing of perennial grasses to 1 million 34 thousand hectares," said the Deputy Minister. "As of today, we have about 800 thousand hectares, i.e., this year we must sow 540 thousand hectares of grasses on arable land. The main component should be legumes and cereals (about 90%), and among legumes, we would like to have 280 thousand hectares of alfalfa."
According to the Deputy Minister, the Republican Association "Belsemena" has already held a tender based on the regions' applications, and the volumes and suppliers of seeds for this crop have been determined.
In general, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, as of April 13, perennial grasses have been sown on 208 thousand hectares, including legumes and legume-cereal mixtures on 173 thousand hectares.
