The Novopolotsk city department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus has initiated a criminal case for an assault on a bus inspector in Novopolotsk, the official representative of the Investigative Committee Department for the Vitebsk Region, Inna Gorbacheva, told a BELTA correspondent. A criminal case under Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code "Violence or threat against an official performing official duties, or another person performing public duty" has been initiated against a man born in 1984. According to the investigation, in the evening, on public transport, he attacked the female inspector because she demanded that a passenger pay a fine for fare evasion. The inspector herself applied to the internal affairs bodies with a statement about the assault. During operational-search activities, police officers identified the attacker, who turned out to be a resident of Novopolotsk. He has currently been detained. As Inna Gorbacheva noted, investigators will thoroughly examine the video recording of the incident, which appeared on the Internet, interview all witnesses, and also study the job descriptions defining the powers of a passenger transport inspector. A legal assessment will be given to the actions of all participants in the incident.-0-
