In order to prevent accidents and loss of life on water bodies, employees of the Lepel District Department for Emergency Situations, together with a correspondent of the district newspaper "Lepelsky Krai", a representative of the water rescue society, and young people from the Belarusian Republican Youth Union, conducted a preventive raid on winter fishing spots.

When communicating with ice fishing enthusiasts, special attention was paid to the mandatory presence of life jackets and improvised rescue equipment. All fishermen were informed of the sad facts of people's deaths due to carelessness and overconfidence, reminded of the basic safety measures on the ice, the procedure for action in case of an emergency, methods of rescue from water, and elements of first aid.
In turn, the representative of the water rescue organization drew attention to the fact that brave fish enthusiasts do not even have basic rescue equipment with them. After talking with everyone they met on the water bodies, they could hear in response: "Nothing will happen to me, I go out on the ice every year, in any weather!".
Therefore, to prevent trouble, the representative of the Ministry of Emergency Situations once again reminded that it is necessary to observe safety measures, before going out on the ice, one should make sure that it is strong enough and, most importantly, have rescue equipment for the ice with them.
