Following the review of the criminal case

On 19.06.2017, the Lepel District Court held a field court session at the premises of the Lepel District Post Office of the Vitebsk Branch of RUP "Belpochta" to consider a criminal case concerning the charges against the head of the Chereyshchina post office, Leshcheva E.M., for committing a crime stipulated by Part 1 of Article 210 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, namely, misappropriation of property committed by an official using their official powers (theft by abuse of official powers).

Specifically, Leshcheva E.M., being the head of the Chereyshchina post office of the Lepel District Post Office Service of the Vitebsk Branch of RUP "Belpochta", with a common intent to intentionally, unlawfully, and gratuitously misappropriate the goods, materials, and funds of the Lepel District Post Office Service of the Vitebsk Branch of RUP "Belpochta", for mercenary motives, using and abusing her official powers, while in the premises of the Chereyshchina post office, stole cash funds amounting to 164 rubles 77 kopecks from the post office cash desk, as well as postage stamps and marking products worth 16 rubles 58 kopecks, lottery tickets worth 73 rubles, everyday goods worth 735 rubles 38 kopecks, parcel boxes worth 2 rubles 62 kopecks, printed mass media worth 18 rubles 44 kopecks, cash funds amounting to 299 rubles 70 kopecks by making an unfounded payment of insurance compensation from Belgosstrakh, cash funds amounting to 299 rubles 70 kopecks by making an unfounded payment of targeted social assistance, cash funds amounting to 188 rubles 63 kopecks by making an unfounded payment of material assistance, cash funds amounting to 1,066 rubles 02 kopecks by making an unfounded payment of material assistance, and cash funds amounting to 1,496 rubles 57 kopecks by making an unfounded payment on a non-existent deposit, thereby causing damage to RUP "Belpochta" totaling 4361.41 rubles.

The accused, Leshcheva E.M., has been found guilty of misappropriating property by an official using their official position (theft by abuse of official powers) and, pursuant to Part 1 of Article 210 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, has been sentenced to 2 years of imprisonment, a fine of 50 base units, and a 2-year disqualification from holding positions involving the performance of organisational, administrative, and economic duties.

In accordance with Part 1 of Article 77 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, Leshcheva E.M. has been granted a deferral of the main sentence of imprisonment for 2 years and is obliged to perform socially useful work for 60 hours in her free time.

Furthermore, the court has granted the claim filed by the prosecutor in the interests of RUP "Belpochta" for compensation of damages amounting to 4361.41 rubles caused by the theft.
