The Prosecutor's Office of Lepel District supported the state prosecution in court in a criminal case against a native of Grodno, who is serving under a contract in a military unit – he is charged with violating traffic rules by a person driving a vehicle, which negligently caused death and grievous bodily harm.

It was established that the 21-year-old driver, at approximately 10:05 AM on July 1, 2023, was driving an Opel Omega car with 4 passengers at a speed of about 87 km/h along the 132nd km of the M-3 highway, fell asleep, and drove into a roadside ditch, where he hit a roadside tree.
As a result of the road traffic accident, one passenger sustained grievous bodily harm, and another passenger died from the injuries sustained at a healthcare institution.
In the court hearing, the accused fully admitted his guilt.
Taking into account the evidence presented by the state prosecutor, the court of Lepel District passed a guilty verdict. Based on Part 2 of Article 317 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, the accused was sentenced to 2 years of imprisonment, to be served in a penal colony settlement, with deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to the operation of all types of vehicles for a period of 5 years.
The verdict has entered into legal force.
