The main equipment for the new combined cycle power plant of the Lukomlskaya GRES is being delivered by water and land, as reported to BELTA correspondent by the republican unitary enterprise of electric power industry "Vitebskenergo". The main equipment for the power engineers includes a gas turbine, a steam turbine generator stator, and two transformers. The gas turbine was delivered by barge from the port of Kherson to Berezino via the Dnieper River, from where this 400-ton behemoth is being transported by road at a speed of 40 km/h to Novolukoml. It is expected that the cargo will reach the construction site by the evening of December 4. The stator and transformers will be delivered to the facility within the next week. The construction of the combined cycle power plant with a capacity of 427 MW is a joint Belarusian-Chinese project. Thanks to the construction of the combined cycle power plant, the Lukomlskaya GRES will switch to modern electricity generation technologies, which will save 242 thousand tons of conventional fuel per year. In monetary terms, this will amount to over Br500 billion. The fuel for the combined cycle power plant is natural gas. The advantages of the plant include a high efficiency of the combined cycle of 57%, while the 300 MW blocks of the GRES have an efficiency of 39.4%. Combined cycle power plants consume less water per unit of electricity generated and are more environmentally friendly. The construction of the CCGT-400 MW is carried out on the basis of the decree of the head of state and the contract concluded between RUP "Vitebskenergo" and China National Machinery Import & Export Corporation for the comprehensive construction of a 427 MW combined cycle power unit at the Lukomlskaya GRES. Construction began in January of the current year. The unit will be commissioned in June 2014. Currently, foundations for the main building and main equipment have been poured at the site. Work is underway on the installation of the waste heat recovery boiler, and the underground part of the shore pumping station building has been completed. The gas turbine generator has already been installed on the foundation. The installation of metal structures for the main building has been completed, and work on the installation of wall panels and roofing is proceeding at an accelerated pace.
