In the Vitebsk region, almost 30,000 people applied to the commission for employment promotion in January-September, as reported by Vladimir Terentyev, Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies, during a session of the council, according to a BELTA correspondent.
Over 800 commission meetings were held in the 9 months of the current year, including 87 field meetings. "Almost 30,000 people applied to the commissions. Citizens sought assistance regarding the provision of documents confirming employment (64.3%), obtaining consultations (28.1%), and employment (almost 4%)," noted Vladimir Terentyev.
Decisions were made regarding 379 residents, granting them full or partial exemption from utility payments due to difficult life circumstances.
The Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies focused on the performance of the region's economy. The net direct foreign investment amounted to $32.7 million. "For the seven months of the current year, net profit reached Br487 million, which is 2.2 times more compared to the same period last year. 18 regions operated with net profit, and 16 achieved positive sales profitability," said Vladimir Terentyev.
According to him, the budget subsidisation level of the region has decreased by 7% over the last five years, standing at 26% in 2019. From January to September, the consolidated budget of the northern region received Br1 billion 620 million in revenues of all types.
"Currently, the development of the region's budget for 2020 is underway. Amidst a deficit of budget financial resources, fulfilling the socio-economic development parameters of the region, ensuring taxpayers' fiscal discipline, and spending state resources considering economically justified needs will be of particular importance. The social vector of budget expenditures remains an unconditional priority," added the head of the region's parliamentary body.
