On September 20, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. Almost every third resident of the Vitebsk region is planned to be vaccinated against influenza this year, as reported to BELTA correspondent by Vladimir Sinkevich, Chief Physician of the Vitebsk Regional Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health. The immunization of the population of the Vitebsk region, like other regions of the country, began in September. As of September 16, 2.7% of residents have been vaccinated. In total, more than 366 thousand citizens, or 30% of the population, are planned to be vaccinated by the upcoming epidemic season (last year - 22% of the population). The vaccine, purchased with funds from the republican and local budgets, has already arrived in the region. Deliveries of vaccines purchased with funds from enterprises and organizations of the region for their employees are underway. It is planned to protect about 80 thousand people in this category of the population with flu vaccinations. For this purpose, healthcare workers are conducting serious information campaigns. "The heads of enterprises and organizations, for whom it is primarily intended, must clearly understand: being healthy is beneficial not only for each specific employee but also for the enterprise as a whole, as its economic efficiency depends on this," noted the chief physician. The immunization campaign is planned to be fully completed by December 1. -0-
