The driver reported that the "check engine" light illuminated on the dashboard while driving, and the engine stopped working.

After coasting for about a hundred meters, the car came to a halt. A fire broke out under the hood. The owner was unable to extinguish the vehicle himself and called the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) personnel. Rescuers extinguished the fire.

A forensic fire-technical examination was commissioned to the Department of the State Forensic Examination Committee for the Vitebsk region to determine the cause of the fire.

Forensic experts established that the direct cause of the fire was the ignition of combustible substances or materials as a result of thermal impact from the high-temperature surfaces of the engine and the vehicle's exhaust system.
